James MacKeown (b.1961) TOM CARR, 1991 signed and dated lower right oil on board 39 by 29cm., 15.5 by 11.5in. Northern Ireland, its light and landscape, have been a relentless influence on the work of James MacKeown, as they were for his grandfather, Tom Carr HRHA HRUA ARWS (1909- 1999). Like his grandfather, the distinguished Slade trained artist, MacKeown, who now lives with his family in France, seeks inspiration from his surroundings, that which is familiar to him both in life and memory.
