James Sinton Sleator PRHA 1885-1950 SELF PORTRAIT Oil on board, 31" x 15" (79 x 38cm), signed and dated. Signed with monogram and dated indistinctly. From exhibition catalogue entry included verso "This is Sleator's earliest known and one of his best self-portraits. It is also one of his earliest extant paintings. In the pose adopted and the confident facial expression it is similar to his half-length self-portrait in the National Gallery of Ireland, painted a year or so later and to another self portrait by him, of about 1920 in the Armagh County Museum".
