Notes

Born on 28th May 1890 in Worcestershire, James Wilkie settled in London in 1910 and studied at the Slade before serving in France during World War I. Following his discharge he returned to the Slade where he later joined the teaching staff under Henry Tonks. He exhibited at the Royal Academy and New English Art Club and had a major one man show at The Leicester Galleries in 1925.
