Description

Jane Botsford Armstrong Marble Sculpture Fox. The sculpture is titled -- On the Front Running Fox II --Tennessee. Marble is signed on the back JBA for Jane Botsford Armstrong. In good condition the variegated carved marble sculpture rests on a black rectangular wood base. In good condition. The fox sculpture measures 10.7 inches high and 18 inches long. The base measures 2 inches high. From Askart: Stone and marble sculptor Jane B. Armstrong, born in Buffalo, New York in 1921, has eight- hundred works in public and private collections in Europe, the United States and Canada. She has had more than one hundred one-person exhibitions in museums, galleries and universities, and had been awarded forty medals in national juried exhibitions. Solo exhibitions include New York City galleries like Frank Rehn, 1971, 1973, 1975, 1977; Sculpture Center, 1981; Schiller-Wapner, 1987; Grand Central, 1989; as well as Marjorie Parr Gallery in London in 1976, and Glass Gallery, Toronto, in 1985. Armstrong studied at Middlebury College in Vermont, Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, New York, and, in 1964, the Art Students League in New York City with John Hovannes and Jose de Creeft. She is a member of the Sculptors Guild and fellow of the National Sculpture Society. Armstrong has been blind since birth and, working in stone and marble, uses mediums that can be handled and explored by others like herself with visual impairment. In the mid 1990s, the National Arts Club in New York City had a special opening of an exhibition of her work to give blind people a focused opportunity to experience her work.

Packing, shipping and insurance are handled by Alderfer Auction. A packing fee of $22.00 for the first long gun with an $8 for each additional long gun, and $11.00 for the first handgun with a $6 fee for each additional handgun, along with the UPS shipping fee will be applied to each item. To economize we will pack multiple items of similar size and type together if possible. All items will be shipped UPS-ground or required overnight parcel for handguns with insurance. Insurance is an additional fee of 1% of gavel price plus buyers premium. All shipping quotes are for shipping within the continental U.S. only.
