Taisho Period, Dated 1920, by Shinkai Taketaro (1868-1927)
Portraying General Oyama Iwao (1871-1914), the chief commander of the Japanese army during the Russo-Japanese war, seated on a thoroughbred steed with the reigns in his left hand, the uniform of the field marshal displaying his rank and various award medals, the rectangular plinth dated Taisho hachi nen (Taisho 8th year) and signed Shinkai Taketaro-saku, accompanied by the name of the foundry Tokyo hohei kosho chuzo (cast by the Tokyo Armory).
