Comprising of three pieces of fired ceramic work conceived and produced in different periods of the artist's practice but gathered and to be apprehended as one, Still/Llife in terracotta is Jason Lim's response to the pictorial genre of still life. Instead of approaching still life as an academic tradition, the artist casts a personal interpretation of still-life in three-dimension with the irregularly shaped pieces that can freely be positioned in relation to each other. Not being asked to see the work from a single viewing angle frees up one's interpretation. Playfulness and theatricality marks the experience of viewing and living with the work.
