Description

Jean Baptiste Leopold Leemputten (Belgian, 1831-1924), "Chickens in a Farmyard," oil on mahogany panel, signed lower right "J. L. Van Leemputten" and dated 1871, measures 9.25x14 inches panel, overall 16x20.5 inches framed, housed in a very fine period gilded cove frame. CONDITION: Good. Leemputten was one of several, possibly related Belgian artists who during the late 19th century became known for their paintings of rural scenes, including farmyards.
