Notes

Jean Cros (1884-1932) was the only one of three children who followed in the footsteps of his father Henri Cros (1840-1907), the well known pâte-de-verre designer. Jean worked and studied with his father and was greatly influenced by his work. He produced a series of plaques of Provençal landscapes as well as plaques and plates inspired by the Nabis painters such as Paul Ranson. The present lot seems to have been inspired by the latter as well.
