Notes

Of Jean I Petitot's 14 children, Jean II was the only one to take up enamelling as a career. He was apprenticed to Samuel or Alexander Cooper in 1677. From the same year until 1682, he was employed by Charles II. In 1683 he married his cousin Madeleine Bordier. When her father, his uncle Jacques died in 1684 he succeeded as a Genevan diplomat at the French court. His enamels are very rare and of an equal quality to those of his father.
