Olivier calls upon an Art Deco shorthand to create a design that is simple, direct and effective, putting a redux spin on a the classical use of perspective and vanishing point to effortlessly convey the expanses that the Air Union Line is willing to traverse in order to deliver your mail to Eastern extremes. This particular version of the poster includes a map of the route that one's letters would travel, as well as all fee and delivery specifics. Air Union was founded in 1927 and in 1933 it, along with French airlines, was folded into the new national Air France amalgamation. As stylish as it is arresting, the sight of the silhouetted three-engined Short Calcutta, stripped to its barest essentials and miles from land, evokes a cinematic association that in turn bolsters the image of solitary reliability. A perfect example of a minimalist imperative.
