VARIOUS PROPERTIES
Painted in 1938, the present work is a smaller version in slightly different colours of a tempera painting now in the collection of Birmingham City Art Gallery. There is also a third version in a private collection. This group is amongst the last works Dismorr produced. The translucent forms that float above each other developed from the Related Forms series of the previous year (see Related Forms, 1937, sold in these rooms 15υth July 2008, lot 29) and may suggest an awareness of the contemporary work of Laszlo Moholy-Nagy incorporating coloured, painted and transparent plastics.
