Jimmy Sanders wrote in an undated letter, "My goal as a painter is to capture the response I'm having to the beauty of what has inspired me." He works from life, undertaking an arduous and time intensive creative process that involves preparatory drawings and studies in order to create technically superb works of timeless beauty. Three and Copper Pot and Pears (lot 22) are exemplary of the artist's mastery of light, surface and detail to create compositions that are simultaneously reminiscent of the Dutch masters and relevant to contemporary life.
