Design for the wall decoration of a room in the castle of Drottningholm. 18th century. Mounted. Pen and grey ink with yellow, red and grey wash. Inscription measurements in alnar.The drawing illustrated here perhaps shows an alternative design for the decoration of a wall in Queen Louise Ulrike's library in Drottningholm Castle. Rehn's drawings pose several unsolved problems. A large group of his drawings were copied during his lifetime and it is almost impossible to make a clear distinction between orig. - even if it survives - and copy. Many of the surviving drawings do not bear any inscription that would make a clear identification possible. In good condition.Provenance: Armand-Albert Rateau (inscription in pencil on the reverse 'n°128 bis'): Lodewijk Houthakker (two collector's marks).
