Two Views of St. Petersburg the first signed and dated 'W Barth fec Petersburg 1811' (lower left) and inscribed VUE DE LA FORTRESSE DE ST. PETERSBOURG PRISE DU BALCON DE LA MAISON DU COMTE LIEVEN SUR LE GRAND QUAI. The second one signed and dated 'W Barth fec St. Petersbourg 1811' (lower left) and inscribed VUE DU PONT DE KAMMENOI-OSTROV A ST. PETERSBOURG gouache on paper 25x34in. (61.5x86.3cm.) and 25x341/2in. (63.5x87.5cm.) (2) NOTES For similar views by Barth, see Essen, Villa Hgel, St. Petersburg in 1800, (1990) n. 98-101. This pair appears to be the largest to appear on the market for a long time. Barth was also wellknown for his views of Riga.
