Johannes Thiel (1889- ), German MOLIERE - L'AVARE (TWO VOLUMES); In two volumes including: one volume with text bound and illustrated with 20 etchings, each signed with TH initials in pencil to margins, and two full page etchings mounted to the inside front and back endpieces, each separated with tissue guards (22 total). The book and folio having vellum covers with blockprint cover illustrations and gilt lettering contained in a similarly decorated, vellum slipcase. Together with: a folio containing: two sets of proofs for the 20 etchings contained in the above book: one set, each signed and numbered I (first state) in pencil; and the other set of 20 etchings, each signed and numbered I & 2 in pencil to margin, with tissue guards separating each. Together with: the 20 pen and ink preliminary drawings for the etchings, each signed, three inscribed with various numbers [number 49 lower left / number 10 lower right margin; another inscribed, 65 lower left; and another 69 lower left / 18 lower right; and another inscribed indistinctly lower margin and verso in pencil], each tipped into publisher's folder matboards. Published by Julius Scroder, Munich in 1922 to 1923 in an edition of 200, this being signed in pencil on colophon and numbered 1 of 200. Overall 12.8" x 10.1" - 32.5 x 25.7 cm.
