Pastel on paperboard, 14 x 18 in. (35.6 x 45.7 cm), in a period gilt oak frame (under glass).
Condition: Minor pigment displacement.

Provenance: Frederic Amory (1844-1928) [maternal great-grandson of John Singleton Copley], then by family descent.

N.B. The present work is one of several through Frederic Amory's collection, which included Claude Monet's, Matin sur la Seine, temps net, 1897, John Singleton Copley's A Boy with a Flying Squirrel, 1765, and Childe Hassam's Charles River and Beacon Hill, c. 1892, two of which are in the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston permanent collection.

Condition Report

The pigment lose is extremely minor. The supporting paper is evenly toned, but the colors remain bright. Although it has not been removed from its frame, there are no other visible condition issues to report.
