Lot 62: John Bogle (British, 1746-1803)

A Gentleman, seated on a wooden chair, holding a silver topped cane, wearing green coat, white waistcoat with lace fringe, frilled chemise, stock and ring on his little finger, his hair powdered worn en queue and tied with black ribbon. Signed on the obverse and dated Bogle 1780 , gold frame with brooch clasp attachment, indistinctly inscribed on the reverse with the sitter's name. Oval, 55mm ( 2 3/16in) high
