When English travel author Sir John Carr (1772-1832) published his book The Stranger in Ireland: or a Tour (1806), it was quickly parodied for its narrow-minded stereotypical observations of the Irish by My Pocket Book: or Hints for "A Ryghte Merrie and Conceited" Tour, in Quarto; to be Called, "The Stranger in Ireland" (1807) by 'A Knight Errant' (the editor and minor satirical novelist Edward Dubois, (1774-1850)).
