Not signed Most likely drawn as the prototype for the John Carter of Mars comic strip, this artwork represents one of the most important ERB originals known to exist. Coleman Burroughs' trademark drybrush style, which incorporated the influence of Alex Raymond, is never more evident than in this great, self-contained introduction to the freewheeling characters of the long-lasting Mars series. Any John Carter original by Coleman Burroughs is extremely rare as the vast majority are held by the Burroughs Estate, and this example can be considered the best of the best.
