Walter McGeough Bond of Drumsill, Silver Bridge, Co. Armagh was a barrister. He was High Sheriff of Armagh in 1819, the year of the present portrait. He received his BA from Trinity College in 1811 and assumed the name Bond by Royal License in 1824. He married 1stly Mary Joy and 2ndly Anne Smyth. By his first marriage he had 5 sons and 1 daughter. His obituary in The Armagh Guardian of Friday 23 March 1866 described him "As a husband and parent, Mr. Bond bore a high character for the affection which distinguished those important relations of life.". The details of his funeral published in the same paper a week later describe a lavish affair at Armagh Cathedral followed by internment in the crypt of St. Patricks.
