Notes

George James, 4th Earl of Cholmondeley, was the son of George Cholmondeley, styled Viscount Malpas, and his wife, Hester, daughter of Sir Francis Edwardes, 3rd Bt. He served as Lord Lieutenant of Cheshire, 1770-83, was Envoy to Berlin, 1782, Captain of the Yeomen of the Guard, 1783, and Chamberlain to the Prince of Wales, 1795-1800. In 1791 he married Georgiana, daughter of Peregrine Bertie, 3rd Duke of Ancaster and Kesteven. He was created Marquess of Cholmondeley in 1815.
