John Craske started life as a fisherman and subsequently became a fishmonger in Norfolk. Conscripted into the army at the end of WW1, he suffered a brain abscess and was invalided out in October 1918. Whilst recovering in North Norfolk, he took up model making and embroidery and by 1927 his work had started to get wider recognition, resulting in exhibitions in London and New York. His work is represented in Museum and private collections.
