Provenance: Acquired by the present owner's family over 60 years agoMerry Lad was owned by accomplished horseman, Captain John White (1790-1866), Master of the Cheshire hunt from 1842. A work by Ferneley Junior depicting Captain White hunting with the Quorn in 1850 was offered for sale at Christie's, New York on 30 May 2002.
