first edition. Edited by William Kent, this publication was commissioned and paid for by Lord Burlington, who had acquired drawings by Jones and his assistant John Webb in 1720. Most of the designs attributed to Jones now appear to be the work of Webb. Some copies, as here and including the BAL RIBA copy, do not contain the portrait frontispiece; most copies, as here, lack the half-title.
