Description

JOSE CARLOS RAMOS Hand Signed Limited Edition Art Serigraph ON THE HORIZON. Hand signed by the artist. This piece is numbered from an edition of 375. Comes with a certificate of authenticity. Born in Izcuchaca, a small Andean town that dates back to Incan Times, Ramos integrates the tradition of European art with his native heritage. What emerges is a personal style with its roots in the colorful landscapes of the Early Renaissance and the tactile figures of the Baroque, and a distinctive attitude toward the natural world. Unlike many artists of his abilities and stature, Ramos didn’t develop an interest in art until he was a teenager. But his talents were immediately obvious and even before entering the art school of the Catholic University of Peru; he had held a successful solo exhibition. Since then he has had literally dozens of one-man shows throughout South America. Early in his career, Ramos devoted much of his energy to printmaking. As well as being a technical innovator, he was a strong and assured image-maker. Since the late 1960’s, several of his works have been purchased for the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York. His work is deliberately naive in manner. Ramos paints pictures that are at once bold and delicate. The imagery, which ranges from animals and plants to landscapes and imaginary portraits, is never less than striking and frequently stunning.

Not until the mid-1970’s did Ramos grow interested in the folk art traditions of Peru.Living in Lima, he began to work in the style for which he is now renowned. In 1976, he mounted the first show of his own “folk art” at the Lima Art Museum.Since that time he has been invited to exhibit internationally at several Biennales, Cultural Institutions and private Galleries of the United States, Peru, and the United Nations in New York.

All domestic mainland items are shipped via USPS ground or FedEx unless otherwise specified or requested by the customer. All international shipments are shipped via USPS Express Mail International, Priority Mail International, FedEx International or UPS Worldwide Express/Expedited (depending on the destination country rules and regulations regarding prohibited items and declared value). For items that are too large for in-house shipment, a gallery approved vendor will be provided for crate and freight services. For framed artwork, since we (New Ideas Auction House) sell the item based on being framed and matted prior to being consigned to the gallery, we (New Ideas Auction House) will not remove any item from the frame and/or matting, unless there is damage to a front glass panel prior to being sold.

You will need to sign for your item and all packages come insured.

Insurance: All items are insured for the full purchase amount unless a written email stating you assume all responsibilities is obtained.

1) You will honor all bids placed in an auction, and are obligated to complete the transaction if you are the winning bidder. The winning bid is defined as the highest bid in an auction without a reserve. You acknowledge that by not fulfilling these obligations, your action or inaction may be legally actionable. If you have not paid after four days, your card on file may be charged, unless other payment arrangements have been made.

2) Buyer's Premium: A buyer's premium shall be added to each purchase to reach the total sales price. The buyer's premium for each sale is posted on the Auction detail page.

3) Total Sales Price: The total sales price of an item includes (1) the hammer price of the item (2) the buyer's premium (3) applicable sales and other taxes due on account of the sale, (4) packing, shipping transportation and insurance charges.
