Joseph Hauber (Geratsried bei Immenststadt 1766 - 1834 Munich) Family Portrait of the Poschingers (according to the consignor), signed and unclearly dated Jos. Hauber pinxit 1811(?), Oil on canvas, 84,5x 97,5 cm, the canvas doubled, some peeling to the bottom edge, craquelure, (Rei) See Literature: Friedrich von Boetticher, 19th Century Painters, Vol I, 1, p. 494. Bruckmann Lexicon of Munich 19th Century Painters, Vol. 2, p. 99f. Joseph Hauber: He received his first tuition from Anton Weiß in Rettenberg in Allgäu, before he went to the Vienna Academy to study under Roman Boos and Johann Jakob Dorner. In 1797 he was made a Professor at the Drawing Academy and during the reorganisation in 1808 he moved to the Academy of Visual Artst as a Professor. Hauber produced many Altarpieces and was a much sought-after portraitist in the Munich Court and society.
