Notes

Not much is known of Skelton, who exhibited one picture at the New Watercolour Society and one - the present work - at the Royal Academy. Clearly influenced by Sir Lawrence Alma-Tadema, its delicate colour scheme and fine details demonstrate both technical skill and an aesthetic eye. He was obviously rated by the Academicians, as his painting was 'hung on the line' in 1891.

No VAT will be charged on the hammer price, but VAT at 17.5% will be added to the buyer's premium, which is invoiced on a VAT inclusive basis.
