Joseph Walter West RWS (British 1860 - 1933) Scottish coastal scene oil on board, signed Note: Born 3 May 1860 in Hull. Studied at York under Edwin Moore then at St John's Wood Art School 1883, at the R.A. Schools 1884-7 and at the AcadÚmie Julian < Paris. Exhibited at the R.A. from 1885 and at the R.B.A. He painted exclusively landscapes from around 1910. Died at Northwood, Middlesex, 27 June 1933. In 1983 The Tate acquired a landscape by West dated 1913 and his work is held in numerous other public and private collections.
