Joyce Wieland 1931 - 1998 Canadian red and grey lithographed print on silk Squid Jiggin' O this is the place where the fishermen gather with oilskins and boots..... 19 1/2 x 24 1/2 inches 49.5 x 62.2 centimeters signed, dated 1973 and numbered 5/8 in pencil Provenance:Collection of Av Isaacs, The Isaacs Gallery Ltd., Toronto Private Collection, Toronto The text was taken from the popular Newfoundland folk song, The Squid Jiggin' Ground originally written by Arthur Scammel in 1928 (recordings were made by Hank Snow and Stompin' Tom Connors). There is a copy of the original signed and titled frame backing on verso.
