Notes

Saint Paschal Baylon was born into a peasant family at Torre-Hermosa in Aragon in 1540. A pious shepherd boy known to spend much of his time outside absorbed in devout prayer, he received a vision ordering him to join a local Franciscan community and eventually became a lay brother at a Franciscan friary of the Alcantarine reform. In 1897 Pope Leo XIII declared him patron of all Eucharistic Congresses and fraternities of the Blessed Sacrament.
