Description

An Account of the Pelew Islands ... Composed from the Journals and Communications of Captain Henry Wilson. London: For Captain Wilson, 1788. xxvii, [1], 378 pp. Frontispiece, folding chart and 13 other plates (only, of 15, 1 folding). 4to (295 x 229 mm). Marbled calf, rebacked. Lacking two portraits, occasional minor foxing, small dampstain to title/frontis, worming to gutter margin at end.

It describes the monarch's reaction to news of the death of Lee Boo and the fate of the Englishman Blanchard who was left on Pelew at his own request.
Provenance: John Thurlow Dering; Sir Samuel Hoare (armorial bookplates).
