NOTE

In this depiction of an enthroned Jupiter accompanied by a smaller-scaled flirtatious consort, the artist constructs a playful Neo-classical homage to East-West mythology, taking inspiration from such diverse sources as Ingres, Canova, and Moreau. Here the great Roman God is infused with a Japanese bishoujo (beautiful young girl) ethos of startling purity.
