Kenneth K Forbes (1892-1980) PORTRAIT OF THE ARTIST bust length in uniform, brown monochrome, signed and dated 1917, canvas-board, 34 x 28cm Born in Toronto, the Canadian War Artist Kenneth Forbes enlisted in 1914 and served with the 10th Royal Fusiliers. He had earlier visited England and studied at Newlyn under Stanhope Forbes, later attending the Slade School. He became a fashionable portrait painter and was awarded the Order of Canada. His most celebrated work, Canadian Artillery in Action, is in the Candadian War Museum, Ottowa. ++
