Kevin Geary (b.1952) IRISH FACE I signed and inscribed on reverse acrylic on canvas 91 by 91cm., 36 by 36in. Kevin Geary's face paintings are both visually riveting and thought-provoking. It is difficult to avert your eyes from them. They appear monumental and when several hang together the effect is quite extraordinary. His use of bright and largely primary colours reminds one of the Fauves or the German Expressionists. Undoubtedly, in an Irish sense, they also call to mind the famous head studies by Louis le Brocquy of Beckett, Joyce, Shakespeare and Yeats.
