Description

FRANCIS SCOTT KEY (1779 - 1843) American lawyer and poet who , inspired by Americans' tenacity during the British bombardment of Fort McHenry, wrote they lyrics to what was to become our nation anthem, "The Star Spangled Banner". Scarce A.L.S. "Key & Logan " with integral address leaf, 1p. 4to., Georgetown, Mar. 21, 1823 to Roswell L. Colt in Baltimore. Legal content in which Ket advises his client that he has obtained a judgment against another party, and asks what his client will have him do with the judgment. He notes: "...Smith is largely indebted to the Gov't & that the debt of the U.S. would swallow up all the property, if the conveyance to his wife could be overthrown...if you choose to make an experiment with the execution, it should be done at once...the Marshal will require a bond from you to indemnify him for the seizure... ". Folds, else very good.  $800-1,200
