Description

Beauty at her toilette Signed and sealed Chigusa Two-panel screen; ink, color and gold on silk 663/4 x 853/4in. (169.7 x 218cm.) NOTES This talented woman painter was born in Osaka. She went to Tokyo to study under the Japanese-style bijinga painter, Ikeda Shoen (1886-1917). In 1915, Chigusa returned to Osaka to study under Kitano Tsunetomi (1880-1947). She later established her own painting association there.
