KONOSHIMA OKOKU (1877-1938) Taisho (1912-1926) or Showa (1926-1989) era, early 20th century Kakejiku (vertical hanging scroll), ink and slight colour on silk, depicting a solitary black bear foraging for food on a snow-covered hill, with stalks of kumazasa in the foreground, signed Okoku ga with seal Okoku; with wood tomobako storage box titled Setchu kuma no zu (Lone bear in the snow), the inside of the lid signed Okoku dai (titled by Okoku) with seal Okoku.
