KOSHO (1534-1621) A large wood figure of the Bodhisatva Jizo Momoyama (1573-1615) or Edo (1615-1868) period, late 16th/ early 17th century Of yosezukuri (joined-block) construction, the figure shown seated half pendant on an elaborate rock base, the left hand holding a sacred jewel and the right with a staff and finished in pigments and gold lacquer, the eyes inlaid in crystal, the interior signed Kosho Daibusshi, and inscribed with the address of the sculptor’s workshop and the name of the donor who commissioned the work
