Description

This originally hand-colored engraving is from the rare work of Jacob L'Admiral entitled Nauwkeurige waarnemingenomtrent de veranderingenvan veele insekten of gekorvene diertjes. L'Admiral originally published 33 etchings in 1740, and Dr. M. Houttuyn continued the work in 1774 in Amsterdam with Johannes Sluyter publishing. His work specialized in the metamorphosis of butterflies.
