Lady Mary Leighton of Loton Park, née Parker (1810-1864) Portraits from Life, 1830: Volume I, including: Ed. J Cooper Esq MP, with the decoration of Grand Master of the Orange Lodges Co.of Sligo; Viscount Carleton; Madame la Comtesse de Bismark; Viscount Avonmore; Viscountess Avonmore; Sir Watkin Williams Wynn 5th Bart, and many others Each portrait inscribed and dated 1830, pencil and watercolour vignettes, all contained within a tooled leather bound album with gold lettering Together with a hand-written index and an inscription to the reverse of Mrs Leek (Longford), second wife Ann, only daughter of the Honourable Matthew Plunkett (Louth) Provenance: Sir Michael Leighton, Loton Park, Shrewsbury, Shropshire In 1830, 2 years before her marriage to Sir Baldwin Leighton Bt of Loton Hall, Shropshire, Mary Parker accompanied her brother Rev. John Parker to Palestine where they both sketched. Some of the works are in the National Library of Wales. Her second son Stanley Leighton MP (1837-1901) was the author and illustrator of Salop Houses Past and Present 1902. The artist also lived at Sweeney Hall, Oswestry, Shropshire
