Lady Victoria Patricia Helena Elizabeth Ramsay R.W.S., R.W.A., N.E.A.C. (1886-1974) "Amaryllis Lilies" Signed with the artist's initials, also extensively inscribed on an old label verso with the title and the artist's address "Clarence House, St. James's, London", oil on board, 59cm by 64.5cm The artist was the daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Connaught and granddaughter of Queen Victoria. Her full name was HRH Princess (later renounced) Victoria Patricia Helena Elizabeth. She married Admiral the Honourable Sir Alexander Ramsay in 1919. She showed extensively at the Goupil Gallery, Royal Academy, Fine Art Society and elsewhere. The work is sold together with a book entitled "Royal Artists, from Mary Queen of Scots to the Present Day" by Jane Roberts see pages 177-180 etc See illustration
