LAVINIA WALKER, 1876 AN AFRICAN AMERICAN LAWYER AND HIS WIFE A paper affixed to the back states: These negros, a lawyer and his wife were made of beeswax. They were created by great aunt Lavinia Walker, Grandma Babbitt's sister, in 1876, and presented to Nora Campau Babbitt, now Nora Babbitt Harsh, singing teacher in Chicago, at Fine Arts Bldg. 410 So. Michigan Ave. These negros were made in Ypsilanti, Michigan . Partial hand written label on the back of the picture along with partial printed label National Federation of Musicians Rock Island All Roads... Biennial... Convention, June 6-14, 1921 . Beeswax, wool thread, silk, satin, wool tweed, glass overall size: 11 1/4 by 10 3/8 inches; each figure: height 7 to 8 inches
