(American, 1913-1987) acrylic on artist's board, "Study in Motion", 1951, an abstract work in polychrome. (Atkyns studied under the muralist Auriel Bessemer and operated his own art school in Washington, DC until 1968. His work is part of the prestigious Phillips Collection in Washington, DC). Mounted in the original frame, signed and dated, with a copy of artist's bio and handwritten notes from the artist about this work, mounted on reverse. Sight: 15 1/4" x 11".
