Notes

Lee Kit's conceptual artwork conveys both intimacy and randomness. In his cardboard paintings, the artist portrays commercial products through their packaging. The execution is actually quite complex: the canvas is a layer of cardboard wrapped around wood, he paints with acrylic or emulsion paint in lighter tones. He then uses inkjet transfers to recreate the logo. He does not attempt to convey criticism, which has been addressed before. Instead, Lee finds beauty in objects of ordinary daily rituals. The birth of this faded appearance is carefully calculated, like other imperfections. His sole intention is to depict objects which are constantly present in our contemporary lives by leaving the freedom of interpretation or emotion to the viewers.
