Notes

Bowery was an artist, and his canvas was his body. Fergus Greer met Leigh Bowery during his performances at the Anthony D’Offay Gallery in 1988, Greer was looking for a muse, and he found one. Within a few months they began a collaboration that was to become a book, exhibition and project that was to last until Leigh’s death in 1994. The presentation is simple, never a prop or set to be seen. Bowery dominates the frames with his exuding sadism, humour, colour, masochism and sex.
The entire project was exhibited at the Institute of Contemporary Art in London in 2002.
