Obverse: bare-headed bust of Andrea Doria in profile to right, wearing decorated cuirass, Collar and Badge of the Order of the Golden Fleece, and cloak fastened at shoulder, trident behind, dolphin below, ANDREAS DORIA· P·P·,

Reverse: draped bust of Leoni right, galley behind, in a circle of fetters and chains
The medal was originally struck at Genoa in 1541 to celebrate Leoni's release fom the Papal galleys at the request of Andrea Doria.
