Description

5 vol. pet. in-4°. - Édition originale de cette adaptation par l'éditeur d'art J. Pardo (1917-) des romans du cycle arthurien de la matière de Bretagne, en 5 vol. intitulés "Le roi Artus", "Les combats d'Artus", "Lancelot du Lac", "La quête du Graal" et "La mort d'Artus". Dans le style des miniatures propre à Gradassi, l'illustration coloriée au pochoir et rehaussée d'or comporte 1 double page en guise de frontispice dans le t. I et 60 in ou hors-texte (6 bandeaux et 6 hors-texte dans chaque vol.) ; en outre, qqs culs-de-lampe tirés or et encadrement ornementé répété tiré respectivement en violet, bleu, orange, turquoise et rouge. Tirage à 3030 ex. dont 30 réservés, tous sur vélin. Un des 150 (n. 90) contenant 2 aquarelles signées (placées au début du t. V, légendées "Lancelot se fendit en avant et lui plongea son glaive dans la poitrine" et "Merlin et Viviane") et pour chaque vol., une suite en "bleu d'Armor" des hors-texte. Sans la reproduction en couleurs encadrée mais enrichi d'une double planche provenant d'un autre ouvrage. - Plaisante édition aux chatoyantes illustrations, tirée sur les presses de Daragnès, et perpétuant "la légende, le folklore et la tradition de l'ancienne Armorique du temps des fées, des géants, des bardes et des druides [...]" (Préf.). - Réf. Auction - Terms of sale

The purchaser shall pay, strictly cash, the hammer price, in €, together with a premium of 25 %, eventually plus the resale tax, if applicable: 4 % for hammer prices from € 2000 on, only for original art and if the author died less than 70 years ago.
The auction follows the order indicated by the catalogue. The biddings start at about 80 % of the lowest estimate and each bid must be +/? 10% higher than the previous one. In case of a dispute the lot will be called again.
The auctioneer has the right to refuse a bid, and this without further explanation.
Each buyer by making a bid acknowledges the conditions of sale and the fact that he has inspected the purchased item.
The auctioneer has the right to split a lot or join several lots.
Lots with two or more titles, series or periodicals, or lots with a mention "n.c." and 'sold w.a.f.'are not collated and cannot be returned.
Each buyer is supposed to buy for his own account and cannot claim any commission. Each bidder should inspect the lots during the exhibition. Under no circumstances can an item, once sold, be returned. For lots bought via a bidding order remarks or complaints, also concerning the authenticity of the items, should be formulated within 2 weeks after the auction. After that delay no item can be returned.
