Linton (William, 1791-1876). Bobbio, Italy, fine watercolour on paper, heightened with gum arabic, unsigned, 23.2 x 38.2 cm (9.15 x 15.15 ins), mounted An attractive view of the cliff top town of Bobbio in Emilia Romagna. William Linton (1791-1876) travelled extensively throughout Italy and Greece. In 1832 he published a large selection of his Italian views under the title Sketches in Italy, containing almost 500 lithographs in two folio volumes. (1)
