Notes

Liliane Lijn is recognised as a leading pioneer and exponent of kinetic art. Her work draws inspiration from science, oriental and western philosophies and the archetypal images of mythology. Over the course of Lijn's forty year practice she has explored and experimented with light, movement, words, film, liquids, and industrial materials.

Liquid Reflections LL1 consists of a vacuum formed hollow Perspex disc, which revolves on a turntable. The disc contains a clear mixture of mineral oil and distilled water which forms changing condensation patterns. Two clear Perspex balls influenced by opposing centrifugal and centripel forces, move randomly on the surface of the disc which is lit by a tiny beam of light.
