Notes

This large impressive sheet depicting a saint holding the Christ Child is perhaps a study for St. Stanislaus Kostka in Lorenzo de Ferrari's painting The Virgin with Saints Stanislaus Kostka and Francesco Borgia, for the cathedral of S. Lorenzo, Genoa.1 Another drawing by Lorenzo de Ferrari of a Kneeling Jesuit may be a study for the same Saint.2 We are grateful to Mary Newcome Schleier for endorsing the attribution to Lorenzo de Ferrari. 1.
